We give an overview of the actions taken in order to lower energy consumption. The Directive on energy savings in buildings and the 192/2005 and 311/2006 rules that include their dictates have introduced the energy certification of buildings, the document that is changing the production chain of windows and doors, focusing on those companies that have always pursued quality as a primary concept.
The energy performance certificate defines a classification of the building based on its requirements Kwh/sqm; closely resembling the energy lables found on domestic appliances, so we can have a home in class A, B, C……
The situation is in constant evolution: some institutions were precursors of the implementation of these guidelines, many others, both at regional and local level, are quickly adapting, writing their own rules of procedure to enforce respect on behalf of designers, builders, and product manufacturers / plants. Maximum attention is paid to the performance of the building casing, which should significantly reduce heat loss in winter and excessive radiation in summer.
The thermal transmittance is the leader, in fact the legislative guidelines that combine energy-saving and income tax deductions, talk about it extensively, indicating the maximum allowable values for each product.
Excerpt from the Enea site 7 June 2013:
Tax deductions for interventions aimed at improving the energy efficiency of buildings are the most generous system of incentives developed to promote energy efficiency and sustainable economic development in the Italian real estate system.
This incentive mechanism, also known briefly as “55% tax deduction” having been for years characterized by a tax deduction equal to 55% of the expenditure incurred for the energy improvement of the buildings, from June 6, 2013 sees the deduction raised to 65% (dl June 4, 2013 n. 130 of 63 published in the Official Gazette 05/06/2013).
Tax deductions for energy efficiency of buildings are extended until December 31, 2013 except for measures relating to the common areas of apartment buildings or those affect all units in a building, for which the extension is 30 June 2014.
Those that are confirmed are the limits on deductible amounts already provided for the various interventions under the various subsections of the law and the procedures to be followed to access the incentives. Detailed information is available on the information portal dedicated to this incentive mechanism and on the website. Energy Efficiency Target.
ENEA is the subject, mandated by law, to which to send the documentation required to qualify for deductions, and in this context it also plays a role of technical assistance to users.
The documentation must be submitted electronically.
Within a short time the updated portal will be available to include the paperwork in accordance with the new provisions. For work carried out under the previous regime the incentives (55%) remain as such as contained in the portal finanziaria2013.enea.it.
The coefficient of Uw thermal trasmittance indicates how much energy (heat/refrigeration) is disperses through the surface of the window or doors. The magnitude of this number is expressed in W/m squared K and is directly proportional to the dispersion of heat that has gone through the window or door.
Thermal transmittance and climatic zones
All the rules identify the window or door as the “crux” of the building: it being the only means for the transition between the interior and the exterior and it is therefore the element whose QUALITY ‘is critical for comfort. The tables relating to fixtures divide Italy in climatic zones:
You will notice that Italy has been divided into climatic zones as a function of temperature, the so-called “degree days” of each municipality. The degree days are the sum of the positive difference between the internal temperature of the room, established in 20°, and the average outside daily temperature. So, the higher the value of degree-days, the more rigid is the climate, therefore the lower the Uw value required for the window or door. A a map has been drawn, just an example, to help identify the climate zones and where they belong: in any case, the exact breakdown of the zones is verifiable in the annexes to the legislative decrees.
The values of thermal transmittance of the Campesato windows and doors fully observe the maximum permissible for the various climate zones that are in line with those expected from the project “Climate House” in the province of Bolzano.
