shielding against sun and water and galvanising wood for a result that lasts over time!

degradation factors of the outdoor paint film

THE REMMERS SOLUTION: SHIELDING AGAINST SUN AND WATER AND GALVANISING WOOD

The main degradation factors for pain are weatherrelated, in most cases to the combined action of water and sun which might cause even serious damage to wooden doors or windows.

These are the main issues:

  • Paint coming off, i.e. “flaking” due to the demolition of
    lignin.
  • Damage caused by blue stain fungi and rotting.
  • The formation of bubbles and damage caused by ice.
  • Possible colour changes in the paint.

To resolve these issues, Remmers has developed the Longprotection Plus cycle which acts  through:

  • a shield consisting of hybrid resins which red uce the effects of the combined action of water and sun on the wood.
  • a “galvanising” system which helps stabilise lignin (the soft part in the wood) using special state-of-theart additives.
  • an organic protection system for the support thanks to a special mix of biocides certified against fungi.
  • a pigmentation system based on mineral colouring substances and metal oxides which ensure colour resistance over time.

The Remmers cycle has been awarded the most prestigious European certification on long-life, CATAS WKI PREMIUM PLUS, as well as a number of other certifications in many European countries. Also compliance with environmental and human health standards are certified.

THE IMPREGNATION TREATMENT

For an optimal final result you should start in thebest possible way

A correct painting cycle for windows always starts by applying one impregnating coat which serves the following purposes:

Ensure protection against xylophage fungi
Stabilise and reinforce the bonds of lignin which keep the wood fibres together
Reduce the capillary absorption of water
Insulate from extractives in clear-coloured varnishing cycles
Paint the wood in etched cycles
Facilitate fixing of the subsequent base coating

THE BASE TREATMENT

A single waterproofing hand insulates and guarantees
optimal filling

After the impregnator coat, if you wish to make the paining cycle outcome as long-lasting as possible, you will need a base paint coating.

BASE APPLIED WITH FLOW-COATING FOR OPTIMAL
WATERPROOFING

The laminar resins in Remmers base coating are very flexible and adjust perfectly to the support; this results in optimal wetting of the pores and maximum waterproofing even if just one coat is applied. This is a particularly important feature in broadleaf wood types, for example oak, which have deep pores.

INSULATING TREATMENT FOR CLEAR-COLOURED VARNISH

The addition of zinc oxide and titanium dioxide to Remmers laminar resinns has allowed for outstanding insulation performance levels against coloured substances in wood. Remmers, therefore, “allows for something which was unthinkable in the past”: white varnishing with a completely water-based cycle on oak wood without any tannin stains; white
varnishing is also possible on resin-rich wood, which prevents yellow stains around the nodes as can be seen in the pictures on the left.

REMMERS FINISHING

Screening against sun and water

The Remmers finishing paint is the best protection
screen for underlying layers against the weather.
Its features are:

OPTIMAL WATER RESISTANCE

The new Remers Aqua-Stopp molecules allow for water resistance in a very short time, as well as to solve the issue of bubble formation and damage caused by ice. Because they are so compact, they have such numerous and reactive bonds and
contain waterproofing additives, already 72 hours after application a protection barrier against water infiltrations is created, which in traditional paints takes about six weeks to form.

OPTIMA UV-RAY RESISTANCE

The state-of-the-art UV screens (Prismolux: see left) used by Remmers for finishing paints behave like very small prisms which decompose UV rays into broader radiations but with less energy; this prevents the issue of loss of effectiveness over time and thus provides extremely long-lasting protection. This means that the film does not harden, does not age and no cracks are formed.
Another important component for protection against sun rays consists in the special coneshaped
pigments used by Remmers, large amounts of which can be added to the paint, thus providing high protection and ensuring optimal transparency in the process.

INDOOR QUALITY GUARANTEE...

More safety for your family

Our company has always been attentive to issues related to environmental protection and user safety; for this reason we have decided to conduct research on painting products which are extremely pure and technologically advanced, as well as meeting the highest indoor safety standards. This objective has been achieved thanks to Remmers, the most prestigious and important manufacturer of door and window paints, which guarantees:

■ No chemical hazardous to human health
■ Indoor air quality
■ The same health standards used for paints on children’s toys, certified according to the
EN-71/3 (heavy metal migration) standards

Thanks to this technology, our products have been made healthier and safer, using
substances which have been awarded the most prestigious voluntary certifications in
this regard.

THE PROTECTION OF OUR FINISHES: Campesato cycle

OUR PAINTING CYCLE: THE 4 PHASES

SMOOTHING

Campesato smooths each individual element before assembling the door or window frame..
A smoothing system along the vein guarantees consistency both in appearance and mechanism, preparing the processed surface for the painting phases in a balanced way.

PHASE 1

PROTECTIVE IMPREGNATOR APPLICATION ON THE WOOD

During this first application the door or window frame is totally immersed in the impregnator, as if under a shower. This is the most important moment in the process: the  impregnator gives the basic colour to the frame and protects the wood in depth, completely blocking out any fungi or bacteria in the  lignin. EN113 e EN152

PHASE 2
INTERMEDIATE BASE COATING

Application of an intermediate fund using the rain flow-coating, to saturate the parts deeper than wood to waterproof them and protect them, consolidating the structure of
frame.

SANDING

After the impregnation and base coating phases, the wood surfaces need to be smoothed again. This operation is completed manually by a specialised worker

phase 3
ROBOTISED APPLICATION OF SPECIAL INSULATING BASE

Application, using a completely robotised system, of a structural base coat with nano-technological acrilic resins. This further protection layer prepares the frame for the final finishing phase.

phase 4
ROBOTISED APPLICATION OF FINISHING COAT

Application, using a totally robotised system, of resins in a watery  emulsion to reduce the demolition
of the wood surface onto which the paint is fixed.
These special
‘nano-molecules’ also include special UV filters for  protection against sunrays.
